The Words of Dad, written by Madelynn and Olivia Guinane, read by Tim Weidow before the fireworks display:
I have never been one that knows the right words to say, but my dad truly was. He knew what to say to make me laugh and to cheer me on. He knew the words to calm me down and to rile me up. He used his words to help those around him and to leave a mark on hearts.
It wasn’t just the words themselves that were his tools, but the way in which he delivered them. Hearing my dad speak was like witnessing passion and determination in their purest forms. It was always clear how much he cared about the topic of conversation and the people he was engaging with. He put his heart into everything he said and did.
It’s impossible to find the words to do justice to my dad’s memory, but I think I know what my dad would say right now. He would tell us to remember him with joy and laughter, even through the pain of missing him. He would tell us to cherish all of the memories we’ve made and to carry him with us in our hearts. He would jump up at the mention of fireworks and would love to set them off with all of his family and friends gathered here today. Maybe he’d even recall some firework-related movie quote…
“You're gonna stand there, ownin' a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistlin' bungholes, no spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser?”-Joe Dirt, 2001
