Michael E. Guinane - Obituary

Michael E. Guinane, 53, of Brackney, PA, passed away surrounded by his family on August 11th, 2024 at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. He was born at the same hospital on August 3rd, 1971 to Gerald and Marilynn (Wilbur) Guinane.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Karen (Thomas) Guinane, his daughters Madelynn (Bryden Jerauld) Guinane and Olivia Guinane, brother and sister-in-law Brian Guinane and Michelle Ayers, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his dogs Dunkin and Daisy.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Lee and Ella (Roe) Wilbur and Bert and Helen (Touhey) Guinane.

Michael graduated from Montrose Area Jr/Sr High School and earned his bachelor’s degree at Binghamton University. He was an incredibly hard working and dedicated employee of Wegmans, IBM, and Innovation Associates throughout his life. He was a fantastic, patient coach for both archery and softball. He always believed his greatest accomplishments were his children and he was excited to share their achievements with anyone that would listen. He found much enjoyment in the outdoors through fishing, hunting, shooting, and golf. His other pastimes included playing arcade games, watching Seinfeld, and debating.  He was a lover of music and rocked out on the drums. He often used the steering wheel as a drum and as a child, would bring along his sticks to play on the dashboard during car rides. Though he had a profound love for (everyone’s) leftover meals, he was vocal in his distaste for hot dogs, mayonnaise, and sushi. Mike was an avid Disney fan and family vacations to the parks in Orlando were something he looked forward to every year. He always joked that he was “medically trained” and with how knowledgeable he was about everything, it was almost believable! He never failed to light up a room with a hilarious fib, impersonation, or a perfectly timed movie or show quote. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and loved his family and friends whole-heartedly.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Gina Callahan, PA-C, his primary, Butros Toro, MD, and Jung D. Oh, MD, of Lourdes Gastroenterology, Jennifer M. LaVare, FNP, of Lourdes Endocrinology, Jamie L. Masson, MD, of Lourdes ICU, and the many great nurses at Lourdes Hospital for their kindness and care in supporting Mike for the past five years.

Friends may call on the family from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, August 16th at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home. A mass will also be held on Saturday, August 17th at 11 AM at St. Ambrose Church in Endicott, NY.

Michael’s daughters have now made it their mission to continue his legacy through kindness and charity. An account has been set up for Mike Guinane’s “Giddy Up” Fund at Visions Federal Credit Union. Those interested in contributing to this mission may go to any Visions branch to donate or mail a check payable to “Giddy Up” Fund and addressed to Visions Federal Credit Union, 24 McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760.
